The mission of the QUEST Program is to ensure that students have an opportunity to develop their unique gifts and talents by creating a learning environment that encourages students to:
Question the world around them
Understand the need to learn and grow
Explore the past, present, and future
Search for solutions and meanings
Think creatively and critically

At King Philip, our QUEST teachers meet with identified students from all teams by grade level. QUEST students come to QUEST twice a week during their Learning Lab time on either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday, and alternating Wednesdays.
Our curriculum opens the year with units by grade level and includes one or more "mini-project":
- Grade 6: Personal & Quest "Identity"
- Who are you as a learner?
- Reviewing key concepts from Elementary Quest, such as Bloom's Taxonomy and the 3 Rings of Giftedness
- Introducing/reviewing key skills for research, such as finding quality sources and how to cite them
- Field trip to the CT Historical Society with introduction to National History Day
- Grade 7: The Adolescent Brain
- Human Brain Development
- Left/Right brain theory
- Moral Decision Making
- Multiple Intelligences (review)
- Personality Prototypes
- Field trip to the Trinity College Neuroscience Department
- Grade 8: Legacy
- What is a legacy?
- Legacies of others
- Personal legacies
- Field trip to UConn to meet Dr. Joseph Renzulli with a stop at the Storrs Adventure Park
In early December, we launch into our "Type III Invesigation" process which will carry students throughout the rest of the year. This investigation is based on students' personal interests, leads to in-depth research and question development, and culminates in a creative product to be shared at our Type III Celebration in the spring.
The National History Day program is an option for students who are interested in a competitive-level project based on the annual theme. Please visit NHD.org for more information.
